Sophia Wisdom
Sophia was raised by the wild, beautiful ocean of West Cork, Ireland, where she was captivated from a young age by the sounds of Irish music and ancient melodies. She remembers the first time she heard the harp in school—its ethereal tones enchanted her instantly. However, harps seemed far out of reach, both in cost and accessibility, and learning the instrument felt impossible.
One winters night Sophia prayed to God, asking if one day she could have a harp. Miraculously, just two weeks later, a kind lady arrived at her home and said “I just felt I should give Sophia this harp”. This providential moment set Sophia on a lifelong journey of music and worship. Over the next fifteen years, Sophia completed a First Class BA in Music, a Masters in Music Therapy, and has performed and taught harp all over the world, using music as a tool for healing and spiritual connection.
Time and again, she would hear people say, “I’ve always wanted to learn harp-it’s so beautiful, but it seems too complicated and expensive.” or, “I could never do that” Recognising the inaccessibility of this ancient instrument, Sophia was inspired to create a solution. Drawing on her Irish heritage, musical expertise, and vision for making harp accessible for worship and quiet times, she partnered with a harp maker in Ireland to bring her idea to life.
The result is Wisdom Harps- a beautifully designed, harp specifically for therapy, travel and harp learners to create a beautiful sound right from the beginning of their harp learning journey. This instrument paired with her online teaching platform that many call the “Duolingo” of harp is helping people globally experience the beauty, healing, and wisdom of this timeless instrument. Today, Wisdom Harps is in production with its second batch of instruments and supports a growing community of over 45 online harpists worldwide!
